2023 Lillydale Estate Reserve Pinot Noir

A wine based almost exclusively from the estate's original MV6 clone, own-rooted Pinot Noir vines that planted on our highest, hillside block almost 30 years ago, enhanced for the first time, with a ten percent addition of clone 667, difficult to overlook in a cool vintage.

An unusually late, long and cool vintage, with fruit harvested in late March, almost 4 weeks later than is typical. Slow ripening allowed for additional fruit flavour and complexity.

Fruit is always hand-harvested. Bunches were destemmed and fermented in small open vats, and matured in fine French oak barriques (30% new oak) for ten months before blending and bottling in February 2024.

A very fragrant Yarra Valley Pinot Noir with ripe, fruit and spicy complexity, medium density colour and palate weight, and is a wonderful old vine, Upper Yarra Valley Pinot Noir.
